7 Essential Oil Cleaning Recipes You Have to Try

Rise and shine, Moppers! Another Monday morning is upon us, and hopefully you’re facing it with a smile on your face after having a most excellent weekend. It was a chilly one in our neck of the woods, that’s for sure, which means we spent a lot of it indoors. That’s okay, though, since we got lots of stuff done, not the least of which was toying around with some essential oil cleaning recipes.

It’s no secret that we use our own, all natural cleaning supplies when we’re on a job, but sometimes we still like to mess around with different recipes we can share with you all here on the blog. It’s a fun way to experiment with different essential oils, and it keeps us busy so that we have lots of things to talk about.

So without further ado, here are 7 essential oil cleaning recipes that you can play around with this week.

1. Window & Mirror Cleaner

  • 3 cups of distilled water
  • 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol (or vodka)
  • 1/4 cup of white vinegar
  • 20 drops of spearmint or peppermint essential oil

Combine all the ingredients together in a large spray bottle, and shake it all around. Spray on your windows and mirrors for a streak-free shine that you can wipe away with old newspaper or paper towels.

2. Toilet Scrub

  • 1/2 cup of baking soda
  • 1/3 cup of liquid dishwashing soap
  • 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 30 drops of eucalyptus essential oil

Place all the ingredients in a large squeeze bottle, and give it a shake. Squirt some into your toilet bowl, scrub, and let it sit for 20 minutes before giving it one final scrub and a flush.

3. Carpet Freshener

  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • 30 drops of lemon essential oil

Combine the two ingredients in a container and place a lid on top to form a tight seal. Give it a good shake, and let it sit for about 8 hours. Before bed sprinkle some on your carpets, and let sit overnight before vacuuming everything up in the morning.

4. Linen Spray

  • 1/4 cup of distilled water
  • 3 tablespoons of witch hazel (or vodka)
  • 20 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops of frankincense essential oil

Combine all the ingredients in a small spritz bottle, and give them a good shake. Use it to spray on your sheets, pillowcases, and other linens for a fresh, aromatic scent.

5. All-Purpose Cleaner

  • 2 cups of white vinegar
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon of natural dish soap (not castile)
  • 30 drops of lemon essential oil
  • 20 drops of tea tree essential oil

Mix all the ingredients together in a large spray bottle, and shake to combine. Use this all-purpose spray on countertops, cabinets, sink, and toilets.

6. Soft Scrub

  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • 1/4 cup of liquid castile soap
  • 10 drops of wild orange essential oil
  • 10 drops of lime essential oil
  • 10 drops of lemon essential oil

Mix all the ingredients together to form a paste, and apply it with a sponge or rag to your greasy stovetops or grimy sinks. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, then rinse with clean water.

7. Shower Spray

  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol
  • 1 teaspoon of natural liquid dish soap (not castile)
  • 15 drops of tea tree essential oil
  • 15 drops of lime essential oil

Place all the ingredients in a large spray bottle and give them a good shake to combine. Spray it daily on your shower tiles and door to prevent soap scum build up.

There you have it, gang. Some essential oil cleaning recipes you can try out on your own to help you around the house.

We absolutely love essential oils because they’re easy to find, relatively cheap, and they last for quite a long time, despite us always trying out new recipes for fun. Not only that, but their various properties make them great for cleaning, and smelling, so that you don’t have to breathe in those harsh chemicals found in commercial cleaners bought in the stores.

That’s all for now, Moppers. We hope you have a glorious Monday, and we’ll chat with you again later this week. Until then, stay safe, and stay clean!
