Happy Friday, Moppers! Hopefully you’re coming off a fabulous week and are prepping for all things fun this weekend. With the kids almost out of school you’re going to need a lot of those fun things come summer, so it’s best to get started early so they don’t drive you crazy.
Of course with summer, kids, and work, you’re going to be extremely busy over the next couple of months. Busier than usual, really. How is that going to affect your cleaning routine? Are things going to get messier? Are you going to let the laundry pile up? The mold and mildew to set in? The floors to stay muddy?
GASP! Perish the thought!
What’s a person to do, though, when life gets crazy and you can’t find the time to do anything? It’s simple: CLEANING HACKS!
That’s right, we’re back with you this week to share some fun cleaning hacks you can employ in your routine so that even the busiest moms and dads still get the job done right.
Hack #1 – The dishwasher is for more than just dishes
Seriously? You thought you could only clean dishes in your dishwasher? Oh you sweet summer child…let us show you the way.
When you’re pressed for time you can toss toys, shoes, hats, and various other items into your dishwasher, along with 3-4 cups of white vinegar, and run the cycle as you normally would. When it’s done…presto! Everything is clean and disinfected thanks to the vinegar, and you just saved a bunch of time.
Hack #2 – Clean those baseboards with a broom
Tired of getting down on your hands and knees and cleaning your baseboards the old fashioned way one slow section at a time? Have no fear, the broom hack is here!
Simply grab a cloth and wrap it around the bristles of the broom, and secure it in place with a rubber band. From there, spray the cloth with your preferred cleaner, and you can sweep those baseboards clean in no time.
Hack #3 – Keep your toilet clean with vinegar
If you want a cheaper (and safer) alternative to store-bought cleaning products for your toilet, boy do we have the hack for you.
Just fill a jar with white vinegar, and poke a few holes in the lid. Then, place the jar inside your toilet’s water tank, and this will literally keep your toilet bowl clean for weeks. No more scrubbing, no more toxic chemicals. Just white vinegar, and a clean toilet. What more could anyone ask for?
Hack #4 – Keep things looking clean with a bin
Catch-all bins are one of our favorite things, especially when you don’t have time to go through every little thing and make sure it’s in its rightful spot.
You can use a laundry basket, a collapsable mesh basket, or whatever else you think might work, but the bottom line is you can toss things in it when you’re in a rush to clean, so that they’re not scattered everywhere. Shoes, socks, hats, toys…whatever. Then, when you do find you have some free time on your hands, you can go through it and make sure things get put away. It’s not a solution to cleaning, but it is definitely a big ol’ band-aid that will help you out more than you can imagine.
Hack #5 – Clean pet hair with rubber gloves
Have company coming over but don’t have time to vacuum up all that pet hair hanging around? Well shoot, what are you doing to do now? Break out the rubber gloves, that’s what!
Grab a clean pair of rubber gloves (dishwashing gloves work best), which you should always have available anyway, and wet them. Then, drag those gloves over your furniture to scoop up all that pet hair lickety-split until it’s all gone. If you’re furniture isn’t the type to get wet, you can use dry gloves, too, and before you know if you can say bye-bye pet hair, hello Margarita!
There you have it. Five cleaning hacks for when you’re super busy and just don’t have the time to clean the way you normally would. These will definitely get the job done just as well, and you can have some fun doing them because really, who doesn’t like cleaning hacks?
That’s all for now, Moppers. We’ll chat with you again next week, and as always stay safe, and stay clean!
