3 DIY Linen Sprays to Freshen Your Home

Good Monday morning, Moppers. We hope the weekend treated you well, and you’re now ready to face a hectic week head on.

We went on the hunt for some new bedding this weekend, because one can never have too many clean sheets, especially with the holidays coming up and guests coming over to spend the night. Thankfully we found a couple of nice sets, and of course the first thing we did when we got home was wash them.

And then we sprayed them down with our homemade linen spray.

Don’t get us wrong, clean sheets fresh out of the dryer smell great, but we like out sheets and pillow cases to smell even better with some essential oils.

Plus, if you have some larger fabric items around that don’t do so well in the wash (or just won’t fit), you can use this spray to freshen them up in a hurry.

Therefore we thought we’d start the week off smelling great with these recipes for some fantastic linen sprays you can make yourself.

Lavender Linen Spray

What You’ll Need:

  • Small jar with a  lid
  • 2 tablespoons of vodka or witch hazel
  • 6 tablespoons of water
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil
  • Funnel
  • Small spray bottle

This lavender linen spray is super easy to make. Simply put the vodka or witch hazel in the small jar, followed by the lavender essential oil. Tighten the lid, and shake everything around to combine.

Next, add the water, and give it another good shake.

From there you can transfer the solution to your spray bottle using the funnel.

Now you can use it to spray on all your linens to give them the nice, calming scent of lavender, which will surely make you sleep better. Just remember to give it a good shake before spraying.

Refreshed Linen Spray

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 tablespoon of vodka or witch hazel
  • Water
  • 25 drops lavender essential oil
  • 35 drops lemon essential oil
  • 30 drops fir essential oil
  • 30 drops cypress essential oil
  • Spray bottle
  • Funnel

Like the lavender linen spray above, this one is also super easy to make, only this time it combines a few different essential oils to give your linens and fabrics a wonderful, refreshing scent.

Using your funnel, place the vodka or witch hazel in the spray bottle, followed by all the essential oils. Cap it, and give everything a good shake to combine.

Next add the water, filling the bottle until there’s about a 1/2 inch of space left at the top. Put the cap on, and give it a good shake once more.

That’s all there is to it. Now it’s ready to use with a hearty shake each time before spraying it on all your linens.

Recharge Linen Spray

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups of vodka
  • 15 drops of Douglas fir essential oil
  • 15 drops of grapefruit essential oil
  • 15 drops of juniper berry essential oil
  • Spray bottle
  • Funnel

This linen spray is great for spritzing around the home on all your fabrics such as your couch and chairs to bring a nice, aromatic scent to your home that will work to help relieve mental fatigue and any anxious feelings you might be experiencing.

Simply combine everything into your spray bottle using your funnel so you don’t spill anything, cap it, and give it a vigorous shake.

The recipe for this one is to make a bigger batch, because we like to use it so often around the house, but you’re free to cut it in half if your spray bottle isn’t big enough, or you don’t need as much to suit your needs.

There you have it, Moppers. Three, fantastic recipes for homemade linen sprays that you can make today!

As for putting vodka in linen sprays…we do this because alcohol evaporates much faster than water, so therefore when you use vodka, everything will dry much quicker, which is better for the overall health of your linens and fabrics.

Hopefully you learned something new today, and if not, hey, at least you now have three more recipes to add to your repertoire of linen sprays that you use around the home, and as we like to say the more fresh scents, the merrier.

That’s all for today. Enjoy the start to your week, and we’ll chat with you again on Wednesday. Until then, stay safe, and stay clean!
